| A 170,000-acre outdoor playground, Land Between the Lakes National Recreational area is just a short drive from Oak Grove. Land Between the Lakes is an inland peninsula formed when the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers were impounded, creating Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, one of the world's largest man-made bodies of water. The area provides opportunities for boating, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, camping and over 200 miles of hiking trails.
